Bishop Auckland Food Festival

The annual Bishop Auckland Food Festival will go ahead this year – as a lip-smacking virtual event.

Originally scheduled to take place on April 18 and 19 the Bishop Auckland Food Festival was called off due to the coronavirus emergency.

But food fans can still enjoy a wide range of exciting street food, tempting drinks and indulgent cakes and desserts by using a new online directory.

All vendors are local businesses, small traders and artisan producers and many are offering special discounts and deliveries direct to people’s homes. Many producers will arrange home deliveries with contactless delivery and contactless payment.

Event organisers say: “Bishop Auckland Food Festival is the region’s biggest food event and a key date on the foodie calendar. With this year’s festival cancelled, we wanted to make sure we do everything we can to support our fabulous traders and showcase the very best of the region’s produce.”

Fabulous food available includes local cheeses, baked breads and vegan bakes, spicy sauces, chocolates and macarons – and much more.

Last year more than 29,000 people attended the festival and organisers hope that people will take advantage of the great initiatives, offers and services traders are offering to help keep their businesses busy during this tough time.
